For the past several years, GSU has been the location of the regional college championship tournament. Traditionally held in late February, this tournament combines the traditional priorities of the NDT and CEDA organizations in a unique way. The preliminary rounds of the varsity division act as a qualifier for District 6 of the National Debate Tournament organization. Teams qualifying for the NDT in preliminary debates then drop out of the tournament for elims. The rest of the tournament proceeds in exactly the same fashion as a traditional debate tournament for Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. The tournament ultimately produces not only NDT qualifiers, but also regional CEDA champions in three divisions.
